| Bucharest, June 2006 – Scandia Cons,
a salami and sausages producer in Sibiu, has
recently started the construction of a new factory in the area, a « greenfield »
investment amounting to over 15 million Euro. The new unit shall produce
salamis and sausages under its own name, as well as canned meat under the
licence of Scandia Română, a national leader in the canned meat market,
producer of the well known brands Sibiu Paté, Bucegi Paté and Cardinali.
The project financing is achieved through
own resources, complemented by Sapard funds amounting to 2 million EUR, which
have been obtained by the Scandia Cons company. The equipments and production
processes in this unit shall be in accordance with the international standards
relating to the quality management and to safety in the food industry.
The construction is placed in the North-Eastern
area of Sibiu and
shall have an useful surface of over 17.000 square meters. The foundation stone
of the factory was laid on the 25th of June as part of a restricted
ceremony. Estimated to be finalised in the spring of 2007, the new construction
shall also allow the sales expansion of the Scandia Română company whose
production capacities have become insufficient as a result of the constant
increase over the last years.
