| Bucharest, May 2006 – Scandia Română SA, national
leader in the canned meat market, producer of the well known brands Sibiu paté,
Bucegi paté and Cardinali, has registered a 51% increase
in the first quarter of 2006.
This increase has consolidated the leader status of the company in the
liver paté market (the main canned meat market in Romania), where Scandia
Română holds a share of over 57% in the first quarter of 2006, in accordance
with the data supplied by MEMRB, February – March 2006 (the number includes the
own brands belonging to various clients and being produced by Scandia
Română).
The most significant contribution to this market share has been registered
by the Bucegi Paté, which holds 31% of the current liver paté market. The
success of the Bucegi paté among the consumers, noticeable at the sales figure
level, was also confirmed at the beginning of this year by the Bronze Effie
award, received by the promoting campaign “Bucegi Paté – Talking cans” within
the framework of the advertising efficiency awards, Effie Romania 2006, under
the “Foodstuffs” category.
2005 the company reported a turnover of more than 38 million Euro,
representing an increase of approximately 76% accountable to 2004. The company
intends to consolidate this increase in the year under way by continuing to
invest in the product quality and in innovations.
Thus, in 2005, investments of approximately 3.1 million Euro have been made
within Scandia Română Sibiu, in order to purchase new technologies (amongst
which a line for processing the Cardinali frankfurters, brought into the market
at the beginning of this year) and to comply with the norms related to
environment protection. Starting with last year, the Sibiu factory has been
benefiting from a modern station for cleaning the environment.
Presently, the company has over
750 employees and produces various assortments of canned products, which are
divided in four categories: paté (Poiana Paté, Sibiu Paté, Bucegi Paté, Sibiel
Paté), canned meat (Sibiu Meat, Bucegi Meat etc.), frankfurters (Cardinali) and
traditional dishes (tripe soup, forcemeat rolls in cabbage leaves, bacon and
beans, sausages and beans, beef goulash, pork goulash etc). Other brands under
which the factory products are sold are Aro, Clever, Nr. 1, Bravour, Profi,
Sarto, Carpaţi, Mărăşeşti, CBA, La Grande Famiglia, Novac, Sor, Porto Roman, Etti,
Novatim. These brands belong to the various international store networks
investing in Romania, to the distributors or the partner retailers of Scandia.
